Cover your Dining Room Chairs - Rachel Myers
Students do not need a supply list –This class will be lecture and demo. If you choose, you can bring a chair seat you are interested in reupholstering and want more information on it. The instructor will be providing tools for you to try and samples you can examine.
From Fabric to Finished Garment.......ways to improve your sewing skill level - Jane Foster
Jane Foster has taught sewing and design to adults for the last 25 years. She has seen mistakes that people make, time and time again. Come and listen as she takes you through ways to noticeably improve your sewing skills from fabric to finished garment. See beautiful garments that some of her regular students will model.
The Amazing Purse and Wallet - Gay Gerlack
The purse is reversible, has a squared bottom and there is a “concealed” pocket. It is finished inside and out and there are no exposed seams.
The wallet is made from one piece of fabric and will have deep top and bottom pockets with three ladder pockets that can hold multiple cards. It is finished inside and out and there are no exposed seams.

- Light Weight Strap - 1½ yards or to preferred length

What is Haute Couture? - Dove Pierce
This class will focus on the difference between "couture"and "haute couture "and why so many people are interested in using the techniques of haute couture to enhance their sewing creations. We will also discuss the influence of the haute couture industry on main stream clothing.
Machine Embroidery Tips, Techniques and Troubleshooting - Toni Smith
In this 3 hour hands-on class you will learn tips and practice techniques that will help you improve your machine embroidery skills. Information about needles, thread, and stabilizer will be covered. We will discuss the most common machine embroidery problems we see every day and how to fix them. We will also discuss how to embroider successfully on various fabrics and easy low tech ways to get placement right on ready to wear. Low tech verses software techniques for improving machine embroidery will also be covered. There will also be a troubleshooting section where you can bring embroidered items that you have done before but not been quite happy with the results. We will discuss how to improve each item and what tools or techniques you might use to make the end result more to your liking.

- Sewing machine with embroidery unit, power cord, all embroidery accessories that came with your machine
- All manuals that came with your machine
- A variety of colors of 40wt polyester embroidery thread (if you only use rayon then bring that)
- Spool of metallic thread if you own one
- Bobbin thread either pre-wound or ones you wound – white
- Empty bobbins that fit and work with your machine
- Small embroidery scissors for trimming threads
- Fabric cutting scissors
- Marking pen to mark for embroidery placement
- Fabric marking chalk
- 4x4, 5x5 or 5x7 – the basic embroidery hoop that came with your machine and if your machine came with them, the plastic templates and the marking pencil that came with it
- T-shirt, hand towel, ½ yd of fleece, and ½ yd of white quilting cotton (not muslin). These are practice pieces so please do not bring anything you cannot afford to ruin.

Drape Front Vest - Kathleen Poole
Easy fit, easy wear. Learn a little draping, learn a little
patternmaking. You will have a pattern you can use over and over and it
will be appropriate for machine embroidery and embellishment.
Sewist with intermediate to advanced skills will be most successful.
Materials list:
- 2 yards of 45"wide woven fabric and matching thread or a shawl
- 18" clear plastic ruler
- French Curve
- Pattern paper (Soft Swedish paper is good)
- Pencil and eraser (I like a .5mm mechanical pencil with HB lead)
- Sewing machine and basic sewing kit. Be sure to bring pins.
- Bodice pattern with a neckline that fits you.
Amazing Cell Phone/I-Pod/Camera Holder - Gay Gerlack
The construction will be very similar to the Amazing Purse, except that we will be inserting a “designer” fabric into the flap of the holder. It is reversible, has a squared bottom, and a concealed pocket. It is finished inside and out and there are no exposed seams.

- Two Solid Fabric Panels - 5½X 22”
- Light Weight Strap - 1½ yards or to preferred length
- Velcro Strip – 1 to 1½” (Optional, but recommended)
- Desired Interfacing (I recommend Warm & Natural) - 5½” X 9½”
I will provide the “designer” fabrics for the inserts. If you choose, you can make this holder with one solid and one print panel if you do not want to make one with an inset.
Instructor will provide patterns for all projects free of charge.
Hand Stitches - Carrie Besso
Threading a Needle to reduce tangles and using magic to make a knot on the long end. Sewing on hooks, eyes, and loops with a blanket stitch. Covering snaps and sewing them on with a buttonhole stitch. Instructor will provide 3 sheet protectors with instructions and diagrams, a needle, thread, supplies and fabric for sewing in a soft binder. $5.00 kit fee.
